Can I make tea in a coffee urn?
I want to set up a tea station at a party where people can help themselves with readymade HOT tea. I've checked into Hamilton Beach and West Bend coffee urn and both manufacturers say do not use tea. However, I have seen others do it at parties. Would I put in 20 tea bags into the brewer for 20 cups of tea?
Since a coffee urn heats up water, it should work. I would use slightly less tea than 20 bags for 20 cups since the tea might sit for a while and steeped tea is stronger. An alternative would be to use the coffee urn for hot water and let the guests choose from an assortment of teas to make for themselves.
