Your slow Internet May Just be Your Computer
As a computer repair tech for over a dozen years I get asked all the time by clients. Why their internet speeds are so slow even though they have a high speed internet connection.Your issue is most likely one of two things, your computer is outdated and does not have the power needed to chache the web pages fast enough or you really just don't have that high of an internet connection.
In most cases it is the latter.If you have a slow processor like the Athlon or Celeron and very little ram then that is your issue and not your internet connection. They just don't have enough ram to do it. If you have under a 1G of memory installed in your computer and under 2 gig's for windows vista then the first thing you should consider to bump your speed is to install more memory into your computer. In some cases those you use a DSL service may find that at certain times of the day the internet connection is slow. Should I use SP speed on double layer DVD or LP on single layer DVD?
I am transferring 8 mm tapes to DVD. Some are just over 120 minutes in length and I don't want to cut them off. Should I transfer at a slower speed to a single layer DVD or at the standard speed on a double layer DVD? Which would give me the better quality recording? I know that the double layer DVD will cost more but these are very important recordings and I want to preserve the quality. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
I think I would go with the LP on a single layer. The double layer opinion is still out to how long it will last. Normal burned DVDs only last 10 years to retain the information. Double layer does some unsual tricks to make it work and they are not time tested.
If it was me, I would burn it on two DVDs. Of course SP would give you a better recording. But you also have to have a double layer player.
Keep in mind this isn't the same dual layer that the pressed DVD uses on both sides. It's done with dyes on the same side.
