Adding A Pond Is Quick, Easy, And Popular
For an immediate focal point to your backyard, think about installing a pond. To prime the base of the pond, line it with about one inch of sand. The terraced steps should also be coated by sand. You can now place your pre-formed pond in the pit. If using a liner, begin laying it down. To prevent any issues, cut the liner four feet wider and longer than the actual pond. Flatten out any creases by pushing the liner down.
You can now start to fill the pond. With a pre-formed liner, you want to begin backfilling the space around the pond and time it so that you are done at about the same time the pond is filled. When using a liner, continuously pull the liner taunt all around. If you are using a pump to work a fountain or waterfall, place it at the bottom of the pond and bury the cord.
Dressing up your pond should be good fun. Arrange flat rocks along the edge of your pond and add a second layer in a offset pattern. Have the rocks overhang a bit over the water. Hide your water pump wire in between rocks and place a third rock on top being careful not to crush the hose.
Take your time when devising how you will landscape around your water feature. Determine if you want your pond to be easily visible or should it harmonize with the rest of your backyard? You should maintain at least one side clear of plants to make it accessible. A preferred landscaping tactic around ponds is to create a feature on one end and one side while leaving the other end and side bare. Also remember to select plants that will do well in a moist environment. In and around an Ajax homes in Ontario will frequently experience differences in temperature with cold winters and hot, humid summers so take your region’s climate into consideration.
You can now sit back and enjoy the fruits of your labor. Most water features can be installed in one weekend. So go do it. Everyone will want a pond once they see how good yours looks.
