Hot Tub Accessories – Filter Cartridge
Most spas have cartridge filters that can be replaced every year or so depending on spa use. Many hot tub suppliers do not do a good job of notifying customers that their filters require replacing. Unlike some refrigerators that have a light come on when it Is time to replace the water filter for the ice maker and water dispenser, most Hot Tubs do not have a replace filter indicator.
Consequently the filter may be ignored by the spa owner since time just has a way of flying by. But even with regular cleaning, a cartridge filters core media, the filter paper that does the filtering, clogs up to the point where it no longer can filter particulates out of the water. This can lead to all sorts of spa problems including wearing seals which can cause leaky pumps, and even a problem with the circulation system.
So clean the hot tub filter regularly and replace every year or so for optimum hot tub performance. Hot tub filters are available online at Canada's TheHotTubSuperstore.com.
To clean a filter, simply remove the filter from the filter housing as per manufacturer manual and use a regular garden hose with a little restricted pressure or an appropriate spray nozzle to clean out the filter in between the pleats. Do not use a pressure washer as that will damage the medium. After rinsing out all of the dirt and particulates, simply replace the filter back in the spa.
If a filter is very dirty you can also get an overnight cartridge filter cleaner solution and let it sit in a bucket so the solution can eat away at the filter pores and produce a clean filter again. For this purpose it is best to have 2 filters that you can alternate while one is cleaning. Note that after any cleaning with solutions the filter needs a thorough rinsing before being replaced into the spa.
There are different brands of cartridge filters from spas including Unicel and Pleatco type.
Note although most cartridge filters are placed in non-pressurized housing, there is such a thing as a pressure filter. These types of filter replacements may also involve bleeding air out of the filter system before opening the hatch and certainly making sure the pump is not running. Even in non-pressurized filter systems such as top loading filters, make sure the pump is off as it is difficult to remove the filter with the suction provided by the system, and is a safety hazard too.
Other spa accessories include hot tub steps, hot tub cover lifters and hot tub spa covers. For thousands of online hot tub accessories, visit http://www.thehottubsuperstore.com

Brita Water Filter Cartridge: What Exactly Is It Made For?
Brita water filter cartridges are the most generally known available today. Brita water filter cartridges are made for more than just pitchers on today's growing market. They are also found in refrigeration units to help make the water coming out of the door and ice maker more pure.
Kind of Filtration
Brita water filter cartridges use an absorption based water filtration system. This type of system is helpful and relatively inexpensive, still averaging fewer than 20 dollars for a three pack of replacement filters that commonly have to be changed in pitcher filtration units about every 3 months. Therefore the filters break down to just over a dollar per month for their use.
Absorption filters are really good at removing the chlorine taste from the water, which is the 'bad' taste that consumers normally find disconcerting in common tap water. Brita water filter cartridges are filled made to remove or reduce the chlorine and other contaminants and organic matter from the water, such as pesticides. You can proof this fact by viewing it under optical microscopes or any kind of microscope sale. This Brita water filter cartridges are really designed to remove some of the smallest microbial bacteria that are swimming around.
Other forms of filtration on the market that Brita water filter cartridges do not use are the reverse osmosis kinds of filters, like the Universal water filter cartridge which uses a combination of a reverse osmosis water filtration system and a carbon based absorption system. A reverse osmosis based system is different from Brita water filter cartridges in that it utilizes a membrane to filter out the pollutant materials rather than absorb them from the water. The membrane has microscopic holes in it so it blocks all contaminants and only lets the water molecules through.
One problem with Brita water filter cartridges is that they are only able to be utilized in a small group of water filtration systems, such as the pitchers and refrigeration units. There are also some countertop units which use Brita water filter cartridges, but the main focus of Brita filters is the portable units.
There are many other forms of water filtration devices available on the market. There are under the sink units that hook into the water pipe and support larger quantities of water to be filtered at a time. There are other units, including the point of entry units which allow the entire water supply to have a house or office to be filtered. Additionally, you will find devices that are created particularly for commercial use that allow many gallons of water to be purified every day under strictly regulated conditions.
Anyone use a Reverse Osmosis water filter.?
I'm looking for a good R.O. water filter that that doesn't require purchasing a replacement cartridge every few months. I currently use an Aqua Wizard, and I really like it, but I have to replace the filter every 8-10 weeks. What kind do you use, how much does it cost and how much are the replacement filters?
Wow, replacing filter every 8-10 weeks is too often. Are you using well water or city water. If city water, it should be every year. If it is well water, you may have too much sediment and in this case you need to change your sediment filter more often. Or best install a whole hole sediment fitler.
This place has one of the best bargain, have a look at it.

Also, there is much information on water filter and list of contaminants published by the government.
Oh another reason why your filter may get clogged up so fast is because you have very hard water, in this cause you need a softener... see here http://www.gtawater.com/assets/softener.htm
