Toyota Acceleration Risk
Toyota has recalled over four million Toyota and Lexus models identified with potential safety issues - its largest recall ever. Last fall the National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration got a lot of reports that floor mats on the driver's side were dislodging and making the accelerator pedal stick The issue got nationwide interest when a highway patrol officer and his family were killed. His Lexus sped in excess of 120mph as a result of a jammed gas pedal and struck another car and then hit an embankment. Evidently the car couldn't be stopped by the brakes alone. Toyota issued a safety alert recommending that Toyota and Lexus owners take out the driver’s side floor mats and keep them out until the problem could be further investigated. The NTHSA also recommended that vehicle owners to remove mats or any other obstacles that could lead to unintended acceleration. The trucks and cars with potential safety problems are:
• 2007 – 2010 Toyota Tundra
• 2005 – 2010 Toyota Tacoma
• 2004 – 2009 Toyota Prius
• 2007 – 2010 Toyota Camry
• 2005 – 2010 Toyota Avalon
• 2007 – 2010 Lexus ES350
• 2006 – 2010 Lexus IS250 and IS350
Toyota and Lexus service technicians are now trained and equipped to make the needed adjustments to these cars and trucks. It seems like it would be an straightforward fix; simply replace the flawed floor mats with a better design, Toyota wants to ensure the safety of their vehicles. Therefore, technicians will actually be reshaping the gas pedal will install a brake override system in some models. An accelerator pedal replacement part will be available beginning in April 2010. Toyota has begun sending out recall letters instructing owners to bring their vehicles in for repair and they expect a deluge in their service departments. To help combat the inconvenience many Toyota Dealers are offering rental cars to owners affected by the recall.

How do I remove the stain on my floor mat in my car?
My floor mat in my car on the driver side is getting dirty because of my wet shoes from the rain, mud, melted snow. I did have all weather rubber mats on top of my floor mat but this all weather floor mat was not able to protect some of the area on my floor mat and my floor mat started to appear dirty with some stain from mud and rain.
I do get the car wash every 2 weeks but none of the car wash had service for cleaning my floor mat. Most of the places have only interior vacuuming but I have not seen the car washing place that I can get clean my floor mat.
Is there anyway I can remove the stain on my floor mat from rain, dirt, mud and snow?
Start by vacuuming the mats. The next step is to use a carpet cleaner. If there is still a stain, then you will need to steam clean them. When you get to the steam cleaning phase, it probably isn't worth the effort. You should probably just buy some new custom fit mats at a store like Mats4Less.com.
I would also recommend getting a floor liner for the winter season. Put in the floor liner and put your carpet floor mats away for the winter. There is a great product called Nifty Xtreme floor liners. You could also use the Husky WeatherBeater or Weathertech Floorliner. You can find all of these floor liners at Mats4Less.com.
