Do You Know What's in Your Salt Shaker?

Refined salt vs. Himalayan salt, how do they compare.

Salt has been around since time immemorial. Historically people obtained minerals in their diets by using traditional salts like sea salts. With the rates of heart disease and high blood pressure going up all the time, there's a lot of talk about salt these days. Most people with these health conditions opt for taking salt out of their diets altogether. In part this happens because the majority of people don't know about the difference between refined table salt and Himalayan sea salt. Do you know what's in your salt shaker?

Let's talk for a minute about the salt that most people use, the white stuff with blue label that says, "IODIZED" in big yellow letters. This salt is refined at very high temperatures which alter its structure chemically and its availability to the body. Refined table salt lacks the mineral profile present in other sea salts, especially Himalayan salt. It is mixed with chemicals to prevent caking and aging, mainly sodium alumino-silicate and calcium alumino-silicate. Aluminum is a heavy metal which has been associated with a variety of health issues such as Alzheimer's disease. Furthermore, refined salt is bleached and chemically cleaned to make it look and taste more appealing. In order to process this refined salt the body has to draw upon its water reserves deeply dehydrating the body at the cellular level.

This is the salt your doctor wants you to cut out of your diet to lose weight, prevent heart disease, high blood pressure, arthritis inflammation and a host of other commonplace chronic illnesses. In addition, refined salt places a high toll on your body's detox organs such as your adrenals, liver and kidneys. Does this sound like something you want to put in your food?

Let's now look at the benefits of Himalayan sea salt.

A much healthier alternative to salt use is Himalayan sea salt. It contains 84 minerals that are in harmony and almost perfect ratio with the human body's own cellular ratio of sodium chloride and water. Every mineral in our body is responsible for specific functions that are essential for optimal performance of our blood and lymphatic fluids. In order for the body to benefit from these much needed minerals, they have to be in a form that can be readily utilized.

From the remote and ancient Himalayan Mountains comes a very special type of salt in crystal form. It contains 84 minerals of vital importance to human health. Some of these minerals are potassium, sodium, chloride, magnesium, iron, iodine among others. But what makes Himalayan salt so special is that in its crystals these minerals exist in extremely small ionic form, which means they can be easily used by the body.

One of the best ways to use Himalayan salt is Sole (pronounced  so-lay). Sole is a German word that means fluid energy from the sun. The way you make sole is by saturating purified water with salt crystals. You can take a glass jar and fill it about ¾ of the way with water and add a few large crystals. In order to super saturate your solution keep adding crystals until they no longer dissolve in the water. Once this solution is made, you can take about a teaspoon and dissolve it in 250ml of pure water. Drink it first thing in the morning for electrolyte and PH balance, gastrointestinal health and increased energy. Sole is a great alternative to mineral supplementation.

Before you jump up and head to the market to buy Himalayan sea salt, make sure you do your research. Not all Himalayan salts were created equal. Find a reputable source, preferably from Pakistan or Tibet and make sure that they can provide you with a list of minerals for your review. If you see a Naturopathic doctor they might be able to get a good referral for you. Now the only thing left for you to do is get rid of all that nasty refined table salt. Once you taste and see the benefits of Himalayan sea salt you'll never be the same…literally!

Understanding Painted Furniture

Faux painting can aid you produce an inspiring work of art and consists of several unique techniques. These tactics contain color washing, sponging on or off, ragging on or off, and strie. Color washing, sponging on and ragging on are all additive techniques. Sponging or ragging off and strie are subtractive techniques. The cause this is important is that the glaze is mixed differently depending on regardless of whether that you are utilizing an additive or subtractive technique.

Cream painted furniture is an incredible style of painted furniture that could be utilized all over the home including the bedroom, living room and dining room. Commonly this furniture is intended with either a Shaker style or nation feel, which signifies it'll either have a whole lot of very simple straight lines with characteristic tapered feet. Alternatively, if it is nation styled it's going to feature bun feet with a lot more detailed panelling and softer edges.

The cream colour works nicely in case you are right after the painted furniture style even so concerned that going for a brilliant white colour may appear too contemporary for the home, if you consider this that you are almost certainly ideal as a crisp white colour might be overpowering. With a cream colour finish nonetheless your rooms will feel warmer and far more inviting with that homely touch.

First, who will be the furniture for, where will it be used, and what colours do you wish to place together? I went by way of paint chips and came up with 3 colours that I wanted to combine-soft pink, pale blue, and violet. Then I used a mixture of two faux painting strategies - color washing and sponging on. In addition to making use of these techniques, I also added some accents on the stool with the major base color.

The 1st step is to prepare the furniture for painting. The stool I began with was a new piece of unfinished furniture. I sanded it until it was smooth and velvety. Then I applied a base coat of Valspar Enamel Undercoater which is an outstanding primer for furniture for the reason that it sands so nicely and assists prepare the wood for the initial base coat. After the primer dries, sand the furniture having a micro sanding sponge to eliminate any raised fibers or rough spots in the wood. Then base coat the complete piece inside the color you've selected. In my example, I put to use a soft pink for the base coat in an eggshell finish.

After the base coat dries, the next step would be to mix your very first glazing color which you are going to use to color wash or sponge on. For these additive techniques, you mix one aspect paint to 4 components of glaze. For this step I use Benjamin Moore Latex Glaze. Make sure the glaze and also the paint are thoroughly mixed. Then to color wash, take a soft cloth and dip into the mixture and wash the wood with the glaze mixture. Gently rubbing the surface in a circular motion with the glaze mixture creates a lovely, subtle design.

If that you are sponging on the glaze mixture, take a sea sponge and dampen it with water. Then dip the dampened sponge into the glaze mixture and dab off any excess. You need the sponge damp with glaze, not dripping. This will not just show you how well the colors work together, but will let you practice your sponging on method prior to applying to your furniture.

I should recommend you learn more research to do with Hand Painted Secretary.
